Professor Athanasopoulos-Zekkos earns Middlebrooks Award
Assistant Professor Adda Athanasopoulos-Zekkos recently received the 2015 Middlebrooks Award from ASCE Geo-Institute.
Athanasopoulos-Zekkos and Raymond B. Seed, PhD, earned the award with their paper, "Simplified Methodology for Consideration of Two-Dimensional Dynamic Response of Levees in Liquefaction-Triggering Evaluation in the Journal of Geotechnical" and Geoenvironmental Engineering.
In selecting this paper for the award, the committee particularly noted the paper's broad applicability due in part to its presentation of systematic studies of the responses of a suite of levee and foundation conditions to a wide range of input ground motions of varying magnitudes, intensities, and characteristics.
This award will be presented at the Geotechnical & Structural Engineering Conference in February 2016.
